Here I have a selection of pieces written for a variety of classes during my time at Mississippi College. These selections each highlight a specific skill I have cultivated throughout my education, which are demonstrated by the tabs above.

Melancholy and the Artist: Revised

In this essay, I take a piece that I wrote for a class, and I utilize editing skills I have cultivated through my time as a tutor in the writing center to make in depth revisions. Throughout my revisions, I particularly focus on making my sentences for succinct and reader friendly. I also challenged myself to remove unnecessary information. Get Out and its Place in Horror

In writing this essay, I wanted to conduct a genre study of Get Out as a horror film. Through thorough research, I discovered that Get Out more closely fits into the subcategory of "psychological horror." Upon this discovery, I strove to highlight specific examples of where Get Out displays the conventions of psychological horror and how those conventions function with the film. TED Talk

In this "TED Talk," I discuss the intersection between creative wing and the concept of "human becoming," or finding your "true" self. To discuss this, I utilize my own experience of self understanding in conjunction with a specific character of mine, Ashton, who can be found in my story "Fostering."
