The inspiration for the story was fulling found in the song "Strawberry" by Andrew Montana. In particular, the lyrics "Clean the blood and never ask why/I'll be your alibi," gave me the idea to write a murder story. The cozy, folksy music juxtaposed with the content of the lyrics set the tone for my story and inspired the eventual plot twist.

This story is featured in the 2023 edition of MC's creative magazine The Arrowhead as the 2nd place winner in the short story category.
